Jacob Semlser signs to SIC's Falcon Archers

HARRISBURG, Ill. (June 22nd, 2022) – Jacob Smelser of Milan, Tennessee has signed his intent to compete with the Southeastern Illinois College Falcon Archers for the 2022-2023 season.

A Milan High School graduate, Smelser is a member of Mack’s Camo Connection S3DA and has several achievements under his belt as an archer. In 2021, he was the Tennessee 3D State Champion and Shooter of the Year. He placed 2nd at the Tennessee Indoor competition and was also named Indoor Shooter of the Year. In 2022, he was the Indoor Champion, and repeated as the Indoor Shooter of the Year, 3D State Champion, and 3D Shooter of the Year in Tennessee.

SIC head archery coach, Ricky Sauls, says, “Jacob is going to be a blast to have on the team. He brings a lot of archery knowledge and loves to win. He is going to be a very important piece to the archery team.”

Away from archery, Smelser is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and First Baptist Church Youth Group. He plans to get his Diesel Technology Degree while at SIC.

The SIC Archery Team started with a small group of students as a pilot program in 2011. Since that time, the Falcon Archers have won national awards against Division I universities, added an indoor facility and indoor team, and host high school tournaments. The team is a member of USA Archery and ASA Archery.
