Southeastern Illinois College Athletics and the Falcon Men’s Basketball program have announced the signing of Arden Smith, a 6-foot-8 forward from Westview High School, to continue his academic and athletic career with the Falcons.
Smith is coming off a historic senior season in which he earned all-district, all-region, Region MVP, and all-state honors while helping lead Westview to a state runner-up finish and the program’s first-ever state tournament victory. He also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career and secured a place on Westview’s Wall of Fame.
During his signing ceremony, Smith thanked his coaches, teachers, family, and the Westview community for welcoming him with “open arms” and supporting him throughout his journey.
Falcon head coach Sam Swinford said Smith brings a unique combination of size, skill, and winning experience to the program.
“Arden is a player we’re really excited about adding to our program,” Swinford said. “At 6-foot-8, he brings tremendous versatility and a skill set that we believe translates extremely well to the college game. More importantly, he’s coming from a winning culture and understands what it takes to compete at a high level. We think his best basketball is still ahead of him.”
Smith joins the Falcons following one of the most decorated seasons in Westview basketball history and adds another talented piece to SIC’s future frontcourt.
