Southeastern Illinois College’s standout archer, Allison Prentice, has etched her name into national record books. While competing at the Indiana Indoor State Tournament on January 11th in the Women’s Collegiate Compound category, Prentice achieved a remarkable score of 576, setting a new national record.

Prentice is a sophomore in SIC’s Diesel Technology program and is originally from Ortonville, Michigan. When reflecting on her achievement, she admitted she didn’t initially realize the significance of her performance while at the January shoot.

“I didn’t think I was even close to setting a national record during the Indiana State shoot,” said Prentice. “I didn’t even check until I saw that someone else had broken a record there. That’s when I realized I had done it, and I was so happy. I couldn’t wait to get it approved and see my name on the national record list.”

SIC Head Coach Ricky Sauls expressed his pride in Prentice’s accomplishment, highlighting her commitment to both her sport and academics.

“Allie always sets high goals for herself, but neither of us expected this until days later,” said Sauls. “She’s an outstanding archer and an exceptional student, finishing last semester with a 4.00 grade point average. She’s also a fantastic teammate, always ready to assist newer members, whether by helping them adjust their bows or preparing them for competitions. I’m excited to see what she achieves next."

With a national record now added to her list of accomplishments, Prentice plans to return for a third year at SIC and take her ambitions to an even greater level—pursuing the world record.
