Despite Frontier Community College Baseball efforts, scoring on a double and a double to narrow the gap, the Falcons held firm.
The Falcons got on the board in the top of the fourth inning with a single by Logan Croley, setting the stage for a back-and-forth battle. Frontier Community College Baseball '24 surged ahead in the bottom of the fourth when Grant Nokes singled, bringing in a run, and Cole Sims doubled, adding two more runs to their tally.
However, the game took a dramatic turn in the top of the seventh inning, as the Falcons erupted for six runs on six hits, seizing an 8-3 lead. Carter Hood's crucial double that drove in two runs proved to be the pivotal moment in the game.
Klayton Wright claimed the win for the Falcons, delivering a solid performance with five hits and three runs allowed over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking two. On the other side, Josh Mauney took the loss for Frontier Community College Baseball '24, giving up five runs on seven hits over two and one-third innings.
Jake Hamilton secured the save for the Falcons, closing out the game with composure and skill.
Offensively, the Falcons were led by Croley, who drove in three runs, and Austin Jennings, who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Hamilton and Hood also contributed multiple hits to the Falcons' impressive 14-hit performance. Defensively, the Falcons turned two crucial double plays during the game.
Frontier Community College Baseball '24 put up a strong fight, with Sims leading the team with three hits. The team also displayed discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks throughout the game. Joaquin Gutierrez and Keegan Martin led the team with two walks each. Similar to the Falcons, Frontier Community College Baseball '24 also turned two double plays during the game.
