SIC Falcons Secure Fourth Consecutive Victory with a 117-101 Win Over WKCTC Stars

PADUCAH, KENTUCKY— In a thrilling matchup, the SIC Falcons soared to their fourth straight victory, defeating the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Stars with a final score of 117-101. The game, held at Haws Gymnasium on the campus of WKCTC, showcased the Falcons' exceptional teamwork and individual performances, particularly from standout sophomore guard Amari Wales.

Wales, demonstrating his prowess on the court, achieved a new career high with an astounding 42 points. His remarkable performance was a key factor in the Falcons' commanding win. The Saturday matinee crowd was electrified as Wales showcased his scoring ability, sinking 14 field goals, including 2 three-pointers, and converting an impressive 12 of 13 free throws.

The entire Falcons roster contributed to the team's success, with notable performances from starters and reserves alike. Sophomore guard Jadyn McHugh added 28 points in the win. Starting big man Maurice Washington-Williams contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Ray Horry and Charles King added 13 and 4 points to round out the scoring for Saturday's starting 5.

The Falcon bench also gave a boost in the win and were pivotal in securing key rebounds, defensive stops, and forcing turnovers throughout. Sophomore sharpshooter Eli Mackey added 8 points and Jordan Mertens, Rylie Rushing, and Joel Hortin also found themselves in the scoring column.

SIC Falcons Head Coach Sam Swinford expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "I am incredibly proud of our players for their dedication and hard work to push through the dog days of the season. Our chemistry on the court is starting to really show and it's happening at the right time."

In response to Amari Wales' standout game Swinford said "Amari didn't score 42 points all on Saturday. His performance is a testament to work he has put in daily to refine his skills and find ways to succeed."

The Falcons' defense was a force to be reckoned with, tallying 14 steals and three blocks collectively. The team exhibited resilience, overcoming challenges and maintaining composure throughout the game.

With this victory, the SIC Falcons continue their winning streak and look ahead to a busy week ahead. The team's next game is scheduled against Lewis and Clark Community College at home on Monday, February 5th at 6 p.m. The Falcons defeated Lewis & Clark on the road just 9 days ago with a final score of 87-76.
