SIC Men's Basketball Off To Hot Start After Two Victories

The SIC Men's Basketball team kicked off their season with a bang, securing two impressive victories over Brescia University this week. The Falcons soared to a 113-79 win in their home opener at Deaton Gymnasium, followed by a hard-fought 80-76 triumph at Brescia University's Moore Center.

In the first game, SIC showcased their offensive prowess, with standout performances from multiple players. Jordan Mertens led the scoring charge with 19 points, shooting an impressive 77.8% from the field. Amari Wales contributed 17 points, displaying his three-point shooting accuracy by going 3-for-5 beyond the arc. The Falcons' teamwork and hustle were evident in their 43 rebounds, 30 assists, and 10 steals collectively. This well-rounded effort was instrumental in securing the convincing victory.

The Falcons carried their momentum into the second game, displaying resilience in a tightly contested match. Jadyn McHugh shone as the leading scorer, recording an impressive 26 points, while also contributing 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Maurice Washington continued his solid play with a double-double, tallying 14 points and an impressive 10 rebounds. Parker Culbertson and Kaiden Kender provided crucial support, adding 8 and 7 points respectively.

The SIC Men's Basketball team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination to secure the two early-season victories. I'm proud of our group and the effort they have put into our preparation through these first few months on campus to put us in a position to win early.
