Southeastern Illinois College's softball team has received high honors for its outstanding commitment to academic excellence. In a press release dated July 17th, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the 2022-2023 Academic Teams of the Year, recognizing collegiate teams that excel in both athletic pursuits and academic achievements.

Each year, the NJCAA acknowledges teams from various sports for their dedication in the classroom on the NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. This year, the SIC Softball team has secured a coveted spot among the academic elite, boasting an impressive 3.50 GPA for the 2022-2023 academic year.
