Southeastern Illinois College is pleased to announce that Whitley Hunter, a pitcher for the SIC Falcon Softball team, has been recognized on the NFCA NJCAA Division One All-Region list.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently revealed the 2023 NFCA NJCAA Division I & II All-Region accolades, recognizing 160 student-athletes from 66 programs. These awards celebrate the achievements of softball student-athletes from the NFCA's three regions in both NJCAA Division I and Division II, with first- and second-team recognitions. The teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each region, making this recognition particularly noteworthy.
Whitley Hunter's selection to the second team for the Midwest region follows a strong sophomore campaign where she pitched in 37 games, totaling 197.1 innings. Her impressive statistics include only surrendering 159 hits, 144 runs, and 75 earned runs. She also recorded an impressive 82 walks and struck out a remarkable 221 batters, securing her position as 3rd in the nation in strikeouts. Hunter's exceptional pitching skills earned her a 2.66 earned run average (ERA), placing her at the top of the rankings.
