Southeastern Illinois College Softball Players Earn All-Conference Honors

HARRISBURG, IL - May 22, 2023 - Southeastern Illinois College is proud to announce that four outstanding softball players have been recognized for their exceptional performance and skill by receiving All-Conference honors. Whitley Hunter, Jenna Bunting, Trinity Higgins, and Madison Weber have all been acknowledged for their remarkable contributions to the team and their outstanding achievements during the season.

Whitley Hunter, a pitcher, has been named to the All-Region 24 team and the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) team. Hunter's performance this season was nothing short of spectacular, pitching in 37 games and totaling 197.1 innings. Her impressive statistics include only surrendering 159 hits, 144 runs, and 75 earned runs. She also recorded an impressive 82 walks and struck out a remarkable 221 batters, securing her position as 3rd in the nation in strikeouts. Hunter's exceptional pitching skills earned her a 2.66 earned run average (ERA), placing her at the top of the rankings.

Madison Weber, an integral member of the team, has been named to the All-Region 24 team and the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) team. Weber's consistent performance throughout the season was noteworthy, playing in all 52 games. She showcased her versatility both in the field and at the plate, recording 59 hits, 10 doubles, and 2 triples. Weber's base-running prowess was evident as she claimed the 13th spot in the nation for stolen bases. Additionally, she contributed significantly with 55 runs batted in, making her a key offensive force for the team.

Jenna Bunting, another standout player, has been named to the All-Region 24 team. Bunting's skill and talent as a catcher were invaluable to the team's success. Playing in all 52 games, she showcased her offensive capabilities, recording an impressive 64 hits, including 10 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run. Bunting's consistent performance led to 39 runs batted in, and her on-base percentage of .469 highlighted her ability to get on base consistently. She also demonstrated her speed on the base paths with 8 stolen bases throughout the season.

Trinity Higgins, an exceptional infielder/outfielder, has been named to the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) team. Higgins' contributions to the team were crucial, both defensively and offensively. Her versatility allowed her to excel in multiple positions, providing valuable support to the team.
