HARRISBURG, Ill. (June 9, 2022) - Six-foot-four versatile forward Kaleb Kanipe from Sturgis, Kentucky has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Southeastern Illinois College Falcons this fall.

Kanipe played his high school basketball at nearby Union County High School in Morganfield, Kentucky for Coach Quaid Girten where his ability to play on the perimeter and in the paint proved to be a terror for opponents in the KHSAA’s Region 2. He was known as one of the top athletes in his district and often proved it with high-flying dunks and blocked shots. He is a gifted ball-handler for his size, a strong rebounder, and has an improved jump-shot that makes him difficult to defend.

He chose the Falcons over several four-year institutions, stating that he felt that this was the best opportunity for him to develop as a student and as an athlete.

“We have high expectations for Kaleb,” SIC Coach Sam Swinford said. “He is uber athletic and his versatility will allow us to play him at several positions. He is coming off of a very strong senior season and we hope to continue to build with him. He is a great kid from a great family who never gets tired of working on his game. We are lucky to have him.”
