Southeastern Illinois College Volleyball welcomed nearly 50 student-athletes from across southern Illinois this week for its annual Summer Volleyball Camp. The three-day skills clinic, held August 5–7, featured two daily sessions tailored for different age groups and was led by head coach Jon Watts and the 2025/2026 SIC Volleyball Falcons.
Over the course of the camp, participants focused on developing key volleyball fundamentals including passing, serving, setting, and hitting, while also gaining experience through competitive drills and live play. The camp gave local athletes the opportunity to learn directly from collegiate-level players and coaches in a fun, fast-paced environment.
“It’s really important to us to create opportunities for young athletes in our region,” said SIC Head Volleyball Coach Jon Watts. “This camp allows us to give back to the volleyball community, connect with future talent, and grow the game at the grassroots level. It's always exciting to see the passion and energy these kids bring to the gym.”
The Falcons, who are preparing for their upcoming season, used the camp as a team-building opportunity as well. The 2025/2026 squad features 14 student-athletes, including one returner, sophomore Payton Garrard of St. Elmo, Illinois. SIC will open the season on Friday, August 23, as they host the 4th Annual SIC Season Opener Tournament on campus.
