
Southeastern Illinois College men's basketball coach Todd Franklin recently signed Hardin County guard Travis Cowsert to a full basketball scholarship at SIC. Cowsert finished his career as the second leading scorer in Hardin County history with 1,177 career points.
Southeastern Illinois College men's basketball coach Todd Franklin recently signed Hardin County guard Travis Cowsert to a full basketball scholarship at SIC. Cowsert finished his career as the second leading scorer in Hardin County history with 1,177 career points.
Cowsert racked up a slew of honors during his high school career. He was the Cougars' team MVP in both 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. During his senior season, he was also first-team all Greater Egyptian Conference; first-team All-South by the Southern Illinois Coaches' Association; all-tournament at the Vienna Classic, and one of the top 10 scorers in Southern Illinois.
In 2007-2008, Cowsert was also first-team All-GEC, honorable mention SICA All-South, and in the top 20 in scoring in Southern Illinois. He was selected to play in the Premier College Basketball Showcase in Springfield.
During his sophomore year of 2006-2007, Cowsert was named second-team all-GEC, was all-tournament at the NCOE Cardinal Classic, and was selected to play in the Adidas May Classic at the University of Illinois.
